Base Transceiver Station (BTS) Foundation of Wireless Communication System

Base Transceiver Stations come in numerous types which include: Macro Base Transceiver Station which are oversized base stations that cover huge regions. They are generally used in rural or open suburban areas. Micro Base Transceiver Station have a smaller range than pico BTS but are more trafficked. These are used in highly urbanized locations. Pico BTS are even smaller than Micro Base Transceiver Station. Because of their size they have the most limited coverage and are mostly found in places like shopping malls and office buildings. Femto BTS are reserved for personal household use and act as a cheap solution to boost signal and relieve the main network from traffic. Each type differs in power output, coverage area, and applicability.
