Every electronic device requires a power supply module as it forms the main source of electrical power. In communication devices such as base stations, power supply modules are custom built for baseband units, radio frequency units, optical transceivers, etc. These modules adjust the supplied electrical power from the mains or batteries to the required voltage and current levels. Moreover, power supply modules make certain that communication equipment operates reliably by incorporating voltage regulation, noise filtering, overcurrent, overvoltage, and short–circuit condition protection.
