OLT's Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities allow real time traffic prioritization to be configured and managed in the context of the access network. For instance, Voice and video real time services requires low latency high bandwidth hence they are given a priority level. Another variabele to modify is shaping of the traffic, specifically queuing as it relates to a class based allocated bandwidth. With proper QoS management, the OLT effectively ensures that these resources are given to the fundamental resources improving customer service satisfaction and the overall network efficiency.
